Chapter Philanthropy & Service
Our Purpose states "To welcome the opportunity of contributing to the world's work in the community where I am placed because of the joy of service thereby bestowed and the talent of leadership multiplied." This line guides us as we serve in Kirksville and make a difference in our campus community.
Our chapter supports the I Think I Can Foundation, a local organization that helps Kirksville children succeed. We have food, clothing, and toy drives each year to donate items to the I Think I Can Foundation. They take these items and give them to local children who do not have enough to sustain themselves. We raise money through various fundraising events, like AGDilla, a fundraising event where we make and deliver quesadillas around campus. Other events include Trick or Treating for Those Who Can't, bake sales, and Elementary Fun Night. To learn more about the I Think I Can Foundation, visit their website http://ithinkicanfoundation.com
During the 2015-2016 school year, our chapter completed over 1,200 service hours! Each sister is required to serve at least 5 hours per year, but sisters are serving an average of over 10 hours per year. Sisters enjoy serving at Hope's Kitchen, Big Event, and other local entities.
As a part of our New Members season, sisters complete a service project. The Spring 2016 new members voted to clean our street, which we adopt through the City of Kirksville. This was one of two street clean ups we did that semester.
