Fighting Hunger

In January 1954, Alpha Gam sister Margaret Moffat Toy pioneered the first home-delivery meal program in the U.S. That program is now known as Meals on Wheels. Today, we are proud partners with both Meals on Wheels and Feeding America. Through service, awareness and fundraising, we join their efforts in the fight to overcome food insecurity right here on our own community.

The Alpha Gamma Delta Purpose calls us to “welcome the opportunity of contributing to the world’s work.” In addition to our fight against hunger, Alpha Gams all across North America participate in an annual Week of Service each February. Collegiate and alumnae members serve in a variety of ways and contribute their time, energy, funds and voices to joyfully serve others.

Since its founding, Epsilon Omega has worked diligently to give back to Alpha Gamma Delta, the organization that has provided opportunities for us to become more confident women and stronger leaders, by donating money to the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. For 21 years, we have been honored to be recognized as members of Jewel Society, which means that we have donated $2,000 or more to the Foundation annually.

Some of the events that have helped us reach this goal include:

  • Mac & Cheese with AGD's, a fundraiser we host in the spring, where students pay to eat macaroni and cheese, with or without toppings. All proceeds go to our national and local philanthropies.
  • Let Go For Love (co-hosted with Delta Phi Epsilon), a fundraising and service event in one where women donate 8 inches or more of their hair to Pantene's Beautiful Lengths Campaign. These women are sponsored by campus organizations, who raise money to support their women. The organization that raises the most money is awarded a portion of the proceeds for their philanthropy.
  • Cornhole for a Cause (co-hosted with Sigma Kappa), a cornhole tournament for campus organizations in the fall
  • Donut + Coffee bake sales

Our chapter was also the recipient of the 2016 Inclusivity Award for Organizations, which donated $200 to our philanthropic efforts.
